Help! Need orginal copy of wpa_supplicant.conf - Kyros MID7015

Post by apr2499 on Tue Nov 30, 2010 8:13 pm

I have a Coby Kyros MID7015. I have been playing around trying to get ad hoc wifi working and I somehow messed up the wpa_supplicant.conf file. If someone could upload a copy of theirs, I would appreciate it!

Oh, and to be more descriptive, my wifi is no longer working. It says, unable to turn on WIFI or something like that. I know I should have made a backup of my wpa_supplicant.conf file (I thought that I did) but it looks like I didn't.

Thank you!

Ok I did a factory reset, now the WIFI turns on for a moment but says, unable to scan for networks. I took a gamble getting this thing, but to be honest, I'm getting tired of all of these bugs.

Android should support ad hoc out of the box. XP has supported it FOREVER!!! From what I hear, the iPad has support for it. I shouldn't have to monkey around with this thing just to do basic tasks...VERY irritating!!!!

Ok, now that I've ranted, I would appreciate some help. Otherwise this thing is going back to the store and I'm kissing Android goodbye. Thank you!!!

Thank you for the reply. Yes you will need to root your device. It is not hard. Download z4root and it does it seemlessly. Then you will need to get the adb drivers installed in windows.

I wrote a how to guide for this:
http://androidtabletzone.the-talk.net/rooted-non-rooted-rom-mod-f29/how-to-guide-getting-the-adb-drivers-installed-for-mid7005-mid7015-in-windows-7-t665.htm

The wpa_supplicant.conf is located in the /data/misc/wifi/ folder.

With the device plugged into your pc you will need to type the following from the command prompt:

cd\android-sdk-windows\tools
adb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf c:\android-sdk-windows

I will then copy the file into the c:\android-sdk-windows folder.

Then upload the file to rapidshare or some other file hosting website and send me a link on how to get there.

Thank you VERY much!

I ran z4root 1.3.0, chose permanent root, rebooted and opened AndExplorer. /data/ is showing empty. Did I do something wrong?
