How To Root Your Maylong

Post by sirspyro on Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:07 am

I haven't seen this posted anywhere and I thought it could be useful, though tipster may not have put this on here on purpose, so if itgets deleted, I'll know why...

HOW TO ROOT YOUR MAYLONG M-150

STEP 1:
Make sure you have downloaded the correct version of the ROM for your model number!!!

STEP 2:
Unzip the file that was downloaded to somewhere simple that you willremember. Format your MicroSD card forFAT32. *NOTE* FORMATTING YOUR SD CARD WILL REMOVE ALL DATA STORED ON THECARD. BACK THIS UP IF YOU ARE GOING TO NEED THE INFORMATION CURRENTLY STORED.

STEP 3:
Copy the “script” folder to yourMicroSD card. Be sure your Maylong is off, and insert the card into your unit.Turn the unit on.
The new operatingsystem will begin to install. DO NOT POWER OFF THE MACHINE UNTIL THE INSTALLATIONIS COMPLETE. THE MAYLONG WILL TELL YOU WHEN TO POWER DOWN YOUR SYSTEM.

STEP 4:
Once you have powered down the Maylong, remove the MicroSD card from the unitand place back into your PC. Now you have two options. You can either deletethe script folder, or rename it to something if you would like to keep it as abackup.

STEP 5:
Place your MicroSD card back into your Maylong and power on the system.

YOU’RE ALL DONE!!!

i've seen these instructions in other places and i have followed them to the letter.
the problem is that it's not working. my maylong doesn't even recognize an sd card until well after it's booted.
every time i turn it off, it thinks the sd card has been ejected. and since it doesn't recognize a card until well after booting, no roms will install via the directions.

any advice?

thanks.

Make sure you use at lease 4GB microSDHC card
It has to be formated with FAT32

Which brand is the card?

Wow that's a first? Where did you get that info from? I only use ScanDisk and Kingston for microSDHC. Which class (?) was you using?

my first few attempts where with a ScanDisk 2gb microSD, the card continuously gave me issues claiming it was "locked" after being removed from the maylong, so i used my Kingston 4gb out of the cell and all of my issues stopped. the disk even mounts correctly upon leaving maylong's hibernation like others have been complaining about...

Hi Sirspyro, yes I experience the same problem! After hibernation, my 8gb sandisk microsd doesn't get recognized, I disabled hibernation therefor in my rom. I've read that most people don't have that problem, I checked with Tipstir once about this problem, he also didn't have the problems I was experiencing. Even though, there are problems with certain microsd cards that's for sure. I don't have my tablet/card here so I can't tell the exact model, I do know it's a Class6 card. Rather strange.
