thank you very much for the info. I purchased my S7 this week and I am having problems getting my ATT sim card to work with my tablet. I detects it cause it list AT&T once start it up after I insert my sim card. I went through all the steps for the apn network you listed and when I go to save i press the menu button click save and then windows closes but nothing else happens. it doesnt show me as enetering the setting. Can you please provide me any other steps or suggestions that I can try to get my tablet to work on the ATT network. Thank for the assistance.

ATT settings with S7

Post by mellz on Sat Apr 30, 2011 5:05 pm

I found the following online. I tried it and it worked perfectly on my S7. I have a voice and data plan on my AT&T SIM.

YOU MUST FOLLOW THE STEPS EXACTLY!.You should also turn off Wi-Fi as I found that sometimes when I turn on Wi-Fi, the 3G connection is dropped.

****** has written a nice step-by-step on setting this up:

I can only vouch for this working on an S7-104 in North East US using a contract AT&T SIM with a Voice and Data plan.

The steps are:
1- Root S7
2- With SIM card out of the S7, shut down and turn back on (use the power button, do not just yank the battery)
3- When the S7 is on, set the "Network Mode" to "GSM only"
4- Turn phone off (power button)
5- Insert SIM
6- Turn S7 on
-- At this point you should have phone service --
7-Go to GSM/UMTS options -> APN and create the AT&T APN as follows:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank

- Remember to do a save of the APN not just back arrow or exit.

8 -Turn off S7
9 -Turn on S7

-- You should now have Phone and Data (Edge)--
Very Happy

Update to AT&T Settings for S7

Post by mellz on Thu May 12, 2011 2:20 pm

I found that when I made the following changes on my (now Android 2.2.2 rooted) S7, my speed increased from 130 kbps (EDGE) to 950 kbps (3G):

In Settings, change setting from "GSM only" to GSM/WCDMA Auto"
Reboot
Search for networks. ATT 2G and 3G will appear after about 5 minuted.
Select AT&T 3G
Registered on Network.
Exit settings.
Go to your favorite browser, be sure Wi-Fi is turned off and check your speed with one of the tests on http://www.dslreports.com
Very Happy
