My final thoughts, WiFi was found quickly. Keyboard was off a bit. I had to touch screen calibrated it for my usage. Once I did that it was okay! So far it's quick at first it looks like Gentouch 78 and DW7. But it's so lite like Flytouch ePad only lighter! There is no Camera/Video Cam, there is a Mic though. One huge speaker in the rear with gel touch feel to grip hold of it. Plays the videos smooth with no audio sync issues or shuttering effect. Sound with the music videos I get off of Youtube sound just like you were watching them online.
I've loaded plenty of apps, games so far. Test software to see how it stands up like Cafiene Mark shows after my tweaks (Memory Booster Lite, Battery Booster Lite and Advanced Task Killer Pro) I got over 800 for a score. I've loaded the latest version of Launcher Pro for Android 2.x and up. No issues and boy is it super duper quick. Faster than these 800MHz from Samsung (PDNTH and Coby KYROS (720MHz). No overheating so far.
This started off good then, the USB ports are not working at all DOA = dead on arrival. The microSDHC slot seems better than Gentouch 78 I still got to use a tweezer to pull the card out because the way case is design. All the apps work I even got Google Maps to load and run great! Gmail and Market won't load those would need to be push buy using adb commands. I have installed Spare Parts and Developer tools for such purpose.
I'll do a full factory reset and see if the USB issue clears up but I doubt it. The System Updates seem to give me access to rotate so I was able to use some apps or e-reader. The manual is vague, like someone was handed a short term contractor who didn't care much to write a full step by step guide. Another thing that's odd how this is going to sell at major toy store on BF. Right now we know who makes this device. The 3 other CPUs are basically the same as the 200 except they offer GPS and 3D and hardware engine not found in the 200 series. Don't expect to do a full rotate without press that rotate button manually. Sometimes it doesn't turn or get's stuck. I had to keep on press it. I've calibrated the touch screen a couple of times and it still does the same thing shifts the screen down away from the icon I want to press. This is nuts! I could try another one and see if it doesn't do they wacko things.
As for Coby KYROS can rotate but might rotate on it's own without you doing it. That's buggy also and it won't work after you do a factory reset so my is DOA and going back some time in 7 to 21 days as Coby didn't send me the free return UPS label. Now this one from SEARS was done on the phone so taking it back to the store hopefully would be easy. I am still going to call up CS and complain about it why it doesn't have 512MB of RAM an there is no Camera on it but the shows a Camera. USB ports don't work.
I did try calling 4x times but Digitalgagets if you press other products it goes straight to voice mail but if you press for netbook it goes right to the CS, but I kept on getting the same message our phones are busy leave your name, number and the issue you have and someone would get back to you in 24 hours. Crazy! That means they're short handed or one guy is tech support!
This one I rate it stars 3.5 out of 5
Wow Factor Level: 75%
Pros: Blazing Fast Speed, Boots Up real quickly also, HDMI, 2x USB with USB Host features, Touch Screen Quick Responsive to your touch!
Cons: Rear Power/Menu buttons don't always work right, OSD Soft Touch Home / Cam / Vol / Menu / Back these work then are iffy, microSD slot when you push in to eject still needs a tweezers to pull it out. USB HOST / USB OTO might not work ( in my case it not working), no Camera only screen capture feature, touch screen might not function like it should seems to be iffy sometimes Overheating was felt today, it did get really hot. Battery started to give me issues late last night.

It should it's really fast. I am looking at models from China with the same hardware to see they all have the same specs as this model. Those are selling out I see. CPU is so fast!

Is this tablet better than the Coby one? Cheaper anyway. Seems like a great deal for $149.

Someone posted in Coby forum thread here that one of the NYC online stores had it for $149.99 with 90 day protection from Coby. This one is faster than the Coby and doesn't have that huge screen view issue. I still testing it out and mostly listening to Pandora and my Music Videos on Meridian Player Pro. Navigation is software OSD and two buttons hardware buttons on the rear case. Where as with the Coby it's hardware base with 3 soft touch pad on the front and power button on the side. The Coby is much more heavier and thick!

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
Hello.
I just ordered and picked up my Sylvania tab at the local Sears (last one they had!).
It's charging right now and I've played with it some. I noticed that it has an option to rotate the screen automatically, but it doesn't seem to have a G-sensor.
@Tipstir - have you noticed the same thing? So, for example, there isn't a way to use it in portrait mode, as far as I can tell.
It does seem quicker than the Maylong that I had and returned. This one had no problems playing a Xvid encoded .avi file. Played smooth and did not lose audio sync.
@Tipstir - you mentioned installing and using a bunch of applications that are not on the original system. Did you use their SlideME store to install those apps? Or are you using some other method? Please share when you have the time. Also, if you have a recommendation of some good, "killer", apps that one should definitely install, then that would be appreciated as well.
I'll provide more feedback once I get to play with this thing. This is my first (well, technically second, if you count the Maylong, but I only kept that for 2 days) tablet. I like it. It's too bad it doesn't have a camera, otherwise, that would be a perfect package.
I tried using it with a wireless mouse and that worked like a charm.
Pressing on!
Cheers!

Go into the ZONE MESSAGE CENTER click on Downloads All the PowerTools are stuff you are seeking. Mega and Elite ones you should get. I have larger package but those are in the Rooted ROM MODS I have release. I'll make another PowerTools package soon.
You know if you click on the Market forum attached to this forum you have a bunch of other markets replacements you can use. APPLIB is another one. Yeah the Slide3.5 it's okay. You can install more than one you know. I've been dumping all I had from all the prior tables that was stored with my 16GB Class4 microSDCard. This table is the best as it didn't stop me from installing these apps. Coby did. This one has File Manager. Someone is doing it right with this company.
Rotate is active. I used a program called Mysettings to see if Rotate was active. I still looking into that myself. To power this unit off you need to hold down on the power button.
Quality on this unit is very good to excellent. Don't see any defects in assembly. MicroSDcard can push out on it's own when you push in and out. That's good I don't have to use needle noise pliers anymore like I did with Gentouch 78.
Well mine is charging as well I've been using it all day..

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
I saw (what I think) is this tablet in the Toysrus ad for Black Friday. I have a question about it. I was wondering can I use this tablet to play online games like Cafe World, and farmville on facebook? I really want something that is light, and small to take on vacation. My laptop is heavy, and I don't really like to take it with me on vacation. I really want something that can play cafe world and farmville. If this tablet can't play those games, can you recommended a tablet that could play cafe world, and farmville? I guess I'm looking for something that can use adobe flash.

Click on the System Update icon found dock draw. I am doing that now running the update. I hope it doesn't wipe out everything I just put in there. If it does oh well. The USB OTG wasn't working. So let me do this software update. So now we know how the updates are going to be handled from OEM. So for all of you who just got the device best to configure your WiFi then run the System Update icon in the dock draw.
Updated completed!
Make sure you connect power to your device doing the update. Great apps are still there!
Released! 2.1-Update 1
Also under settings sound & display for orientation un-check it so that icon will appear on the task bar for manual rotation.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
So this doesn't have a G-Sensor? You have to manually rotate the screen? So does that mean there's no accelerameter for games and such? I actually picked one up on the way to practice for Christmas play, so I haven't opened the box yet.

I just got this tablet today and I am impressed! It's fast, light weight and so far runs the apps I have side loaded onto it. HDMI out is nice bonus. It doesn't have a cam but I don't care... the only time I ever video chat is at work on my desktop.
Like tipstir said it looks like the people that put this together knew what they were doing... hardware and software wise! So much better than the G-Tablet I just returned!
I haven't used it very long so I don't know how long the battery lasts... hoping for another nice surprise!
@tipstir: I will be keeping an eye out here to see what tricks you do to this thing fine sir!

Suppose to have G-Sensor, it does have auto rotate but there is the manual one. I was able to rotate it manual. Wow you your lucky to find them my state only had 1 available. Unless SEARS was holding out.

I just ran the System Update and it downloads the update but the Firmware Version stays at DG1.01. I've tried it 3 times in a row, with and without the SDCard installed and always downloads an update but doesn't seem to do anything...

Tipster, can you please explain the 256MB ram, 512MB Flash, 2GB internal. On all the other tabs I've read about, only ram and internal are given. What's this flash, and why don't you see that on any of the other tabs?

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
I use developer tools to dig down deep to see what's inside this device.
FLASH (ROM) Read Only Memory
256MB (RAM) Read Access Memory
Then you got IS = internal storage like 2GB or ES = external storage 16GB

No multi-touch.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
What about the question asked on the last page about the web based games. And how about the functionality of Facebook. I am looking for somehting for my 12 y.o. daughter that she can use for facebook, and the games on there as well. So she isn't stealing my lappy all the time. lol
Also, have you thought about doing a review of the Archos 7 HT? I am debating on getting that one as well, and I like your review style and method quite a bit. =D

Thanks
Facebook games like CafeWorld and the rest of those type of games. Not yet on Android OS. Flash is not supported on Android OS 2.1. Even though 2.2 suppose to do it, might not be until Android OS 3 thru 4. CPU and RAM would have to be beefed up though. I am sure you have dual core and 4GB of RAM on that laptop. I can't see playing Cafe World on the tablet with 256MB of RAM.
She'll be able to read and post on her wall on FB with low impact stuff. Watch Youtube Video's, read a book and things like. I did get Wacko - mole to play. Low-impact games also.
She can draw faces if you look in the Photo area you can see a smile face I made with my finger. Out of all the tablets posted on this site this was the only tablet I could really draw that face on.
Archos 7 don't think so. ACER Tablet is what I am waiting to purchase?

GE maps works, the other parts of GE would have to be pushed on it. Remember that will slow it down some.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
OK, I've got what may be a really stupid questions, but as this is my first tablet, I'll just ask. Last night, I started charging, and was playing with it while it was charging. When I got done (after a couple of hours), I unplugged it, and it turned off. I thought it odd, and took it to the kitchen where it was going to charge for the night. I didn't turn it off, thinking it would go into sleep and charge, and this morning when I walked in the screen was on (no sleep), and when I unplugged, it went off again. Thought that odd, but decided to leave it off this time and leave it plugged in while I went to work. Returned almost 8 hours later, disconnected charger, and it wouldn't turn on. Took it in the den, plugged it up, and it came on and battery said 30% (same as all last night). Thought maybe I didn't have charger hooked in well this morning. Shut it down and left plugged up. (went to download stuff from your site and others and put on SD card) An hour later, came back and booted up, and said battery was 100%. Great, finally. Unplugged the charger, and the tablet went off again! Plugged back up and it then showed 30% battery again. I was impressed with the speed of the tablet, but if I can't get the battery to charge, then it's useless. Surely I'm not expected to shut down tablet, unplug, and then reboot? Like I said, crazy question, but I had to ask.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
I've seen the same last night. I didn't really pay attention. So there is another glitch with the battery being charged and shutting off or when your charging it. I've reseted mine a few times and did two factory resets and still doing what I didn't want. Well the choices not to call digitalgadgets number as it just goes into voice mail. Pack it up and take it back to SEARS.
Either get another one or get something else. I am not to happy to learn mine USB ports are DOA. Not reading my Android drivers 64-bit and on my netbook 32-bit. I even try to use 8GB stick to see if it works that way nope DOA on that too.
So I can add the battery glitch to the list of things. Touch screen has a touch of it's own with scroll down effect on some icons to the lower left of the screen. That tells me there is issue on the touch panel itself in that sector.
Are you able to press the Home / menu/ volume / back and manual rotate OSD button okay?

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
Well, "okay" is how I'd describe it. It takes probably 4 out of 5 times pretty easily, and the other times not. Now on another issue, hooking up to the computer - I believe I read in the manual that this would only be available later after a software update. It threw up a red flag to me. And did you try the USB drive in both USB ports? Because only one of them is for accessories, the other is for hooking to computer (again, later). Just a thought. But if I can't use it off battery power, there's no reason to own it at all - can almost get a refurb. netbook for that same price if I wanted to have something plugged up, and even it gets 8 hours on battery!

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
Same here with the battery issues. When I unplug mine from the charger it goes instantly to 85%. A few minutes later and its down to 65%. I can barley get an hour and a half out of it before it dies.
I have the dead USB ports too.
Other than that it's pretty nice.. I almost thought I found a keeper.

Yes one is the HOST but neither would work. You don't even see the USB trigger. I bet these units weren't tested correctly. System Update ran twice didn't change much I think of it. There is one more tablet to test but that's double the price of this one and that's Number nine for me. It's like why are American Companies just allowing for such problems. The support is not there with the CS when you call them. I am not leaving my name, phone number and my issue for someone to call me back in 24 hours. Then what happens if I am not at home? Then I got to call in again and wait additional 24 hours. Coby one they put the wrong CS number in the box. So people ended up calling the warehouse instead. That's pretty awful.

I have the dead USB ports too.
Other than that it's pretty nice.. I almost thought I found a keeper.
Take it back to SEARS not much you can do with it. Doubt there are anymore around. Best Buy has one for double the price. I have to try it out before I would buy it. The company has better quality control I hear.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
I just got mine tonight. Still messing with it. Touch screen is really responsive for a resistive screen. USB WORKS for wireless mouse/keyboard. Haven't tried flash drive. After reading other reviews, I am assuming flash drive doesn't work. Can't find my flash drive right now. Doing the system update. I'll post more when I can test more. Oh yeah I have the same problem as others with the orientation. Doesn't seem like there is a g sensor. If I go to the settings and switch it to manual you can change the orientation, but when it is set to auto nothing happens.

I got one of two in Sears today. The unit is pretty good. There is one thing really bugging me, there is a clicking sound from the speaker. It also has a low hiss sound. Has anyone else have this problem?

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
You can get those from Mega Power Tools and PowerElite found under the ZONE MESSAGE CENTER under Downloads. If APPLIB didn't work you have a few other choices to try that's under the section called Market Replacements.

Heads if anyone spots one of these at other stores other than SEARS or KMART.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
I picked mine up last night and played with it for about 2 hours. Here is a quick summary of my experience.
Pros
1. Surprisingly responsive for a resistive screen.
2. Very quick.
3. Very solid and well built.
4. The unit did not get hot after 2 hours of use.
Cons
1. Video playback from YouTube SUCKS - massive pixelization
2. USB ports non functional.
3. Rotate button goes 360 degrees.
4. Bottom 2 lines of keyboard are off. I press the delete / back key and it selects the letter L, doesnt matter whether it is in landscape or portrait mode.
5. Menu button on the back feels loose and must be pressed several times for the menu to pop up.
6. Feels like the screen is slightly raised on the side with the usb connections.
Conclusion
The jury is still out on this. I bought this for my 6 year old so she can play games on it but I'm not sure that it's a keeper. I think it is good, but only about $100 good. I have a Maylong M-150 coming next week so I can do a side by side comparison.
I will say that if the Maylong is a dud I will be ordering an Archos 70 for her...and a 101 for me. I have a Droid X and am very spoiled on the capacitive screen.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
Well I tested out my USB ports this morning and a wireless mouse worked in both of them. Although at one point it stopped responding and I had to remove and replug. I tested flash drive, and it worked great - played video off of it with no skipping or anything. Everyone else is talking about updates, but mine hasn't updated or prompted for one at all. I went into the menu system of it (as per the manual) and there was no update option that the manual described. That's odd.
I like the speed of the unit. The battery issue means it must go back, but what I have been trying to decide is whether to even try to get another one, or to let it go altogether. Local sears doesn't have any, and last night they were out online, so may not even be an option. Toys R Us has them starting Thanksgiving night for $140, but I don't think I want to do that - our local one is located in a high congestion area, and takes forever to get into and out of. Here are my thoughts as my son is playing Angry Birds on it next to me and loving it:
Pros: Quick. Video plays and looks good on it. USB works on mine. I can live with the screen, I think. It is very responsive in the middle of the screen, trouble around the edges - which is a problem with the home, back and volume keys. I also love that there is a builtin place for the stylus (although it's an odd shape, and when the kids or I
eventually lose it, I'd never be able to find one the same shape to replace it). I also really like the rubberized back, and I think I could live with the heat issues as long as it didn't damage the unit.
Cons: I really don't like that there are only two buttons, and they're very inconveniently located on the back. Lack of volume buttons are huge - when I've gone into a game or watching a video, you have to exit back out to adjust the volume, and then try to get back in, and have to start over. Not good. Also don't like that the headphone jack is the 2.5mm type. The screen rotation manually is a pain, but I could live with it if everything else was perfect. But it's not.
I think I'm done with this one. I'll hang on to it until the Maylong gets here (if it ever gets here) so I can compare side by side. The comparison may change my mind. I'd also want to know that it could be rooted, and development would take place for it. If they could get the bugs worked out of it, and had volume buttons, I would think that it would be very much worth my $150. But now I'm thinking toward a 10" like a ZT-180 or something like that for around $200.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
You have volume buttons there on the OSD = On Screen Display. Like with the ePad you have the same sort of buttons layout.
Maylong has the same sort of display as ePad, but you get hardware power, volume, menu and home. Along with the OSD home, rotate, volume and back
Gome flytouch / epad (shown with AWLauncher home screen) Android OS 1.6 with Tipstir's ePad Extreme Performance Edition Rooted ROM MOD with GE

Sylvania SYNET7LP (shown with Launcher Pro home screen) Android OS 2.1 Stock ROM

SYNET7LP
hardware power and menu / Along with the OSD home, rotate, volume and back

additional internal memory 2GB for internal storage on the PCB also know as NANDA, FLASH is the ROM for updates, 256MB for RAM So it's seems some of them work with USB and some don't.

Yeah, it's the lack of volume and home hard buttons I was complaining about. When you boot angry birds, and it's blaring loud or it's soft, you have to exit the game with the button on the back to go back to the launcher in order to change the volume. Then have to start booting the game again. Same with watching videos. that really bugged me.

Re: Sylvania SYNET7LP Work-In-Progress
Okay after furthur review I am having the same battery issue as everyone else, went to 86% immediately then, 63% now at 43% an hour in. But I do have the wifi on. Going to see how much i get with the wifi on and then with it off. Noticed something strange though. Tried the headphones, (2.5mm sucks btw) and only one side works. I also noticed that there is only one speaker in the back. So I am wondering does this tablet only have mono sound. Has anyone else experience this? Could someone else test, I would really appreciate it if you could. Maybe it is the headphones themselves, but i doubt it.

@ tipster, Thanks for the mega powertools, found a lot of apps I was trying to install.
Still can't get meridian loaded, can't find it in your tools. Do you have an apk for it?

Same issue is in the Pandigital Novel / Tablet Hybrid (depends on which Rooted ROM you use as the hardware volume can be disabled), Coby KYROS (has no hardware volume), Augen Gentouch 78 suffers from this. Only Flytouch ePad, Maylong M-150 and Huawei S7 have hardware volume controls along with OSD software base too.

Check PowerElite in one of them. That also turns into the Pro click on Upgrade then follow the directions to what to do next.
