terminal emulator

I'm sure this problem has been discussed before and I have read some information about fixing this problem, however the things I have tried don't seem to work. If I can,t resolve this problem will I have to start over with the newbie friendly update. Super user is on I think, but there are no files listed. Allow is checked and the keyboard is not typing capital letters. A pop up says that the following app is requesting to use super user. Can
not get to step #6. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Not very computer savy on this end but I can follow directions. Again thanks.
