Not find Udisk ( dev/sda ) Fail to update filesystem. Exit!

Post by darmayasa on Mon Feb 21, 2011 8:46 pm

For those who have error like this :
***********************
--> Not find Udisk ( dev/sda )
Fail to update filesystem. Exit!
***********************
This mean your tablet don't have NAND Flash chip install on CPU Daugther board. This tablet using a USB Flash disk the NAND Flash Chip, and boot OS via usb.

The error come because the install script cannnot mount the insternal storage. But if you have knowledge with UNIX SH script find out Firmware named "ePad_android16_WMT2.1.1_Factory_Rom" this rom firmware can update to tablet that using USB Flash Disk as main storage. You can learn from file name "update.sh" and adapt to file update.sh of which rom you want to use.
But If your pad run find, I suggest you better dont upgrade your android OS in this pad, this pad has worse factory support. This tablet like M70003 that the factory warn not to upgrade the firmware...

I broke my pad when try to update to androis 1.7 from original factory firmware 1.6. I still try to repair it (when I have time to try...of coz), if the result sucsses, I will post here, or some body else can do early then me.. keep sharing...hehehe

Or if you abble to open / disassemble your tablet you can use software called "BURNING TOOL" (http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/gome-flytouch-ii-firmware/6680-how-restore-your-flytouch-2-1170-burntool-3.html), but I not yet try this tool, I,m to busy this month to hack the pad.

It would be so much easier if you had specified which links we were supposed to click, and/or gone directly to the correct link before copying the link. you might have even gone so far as to copy a correct link, instead of creating one from thin air. It is exceedingly frustrating that you chose such a general list page for something so specific. Could you please correct this issue? I have an APad EP07, and it's a nice pad, but the udisk thingie says it's having the exact same problem yours had, and I'd like a little help that doesn't involve "deal with it" or "it can't be upgraded" or "send it back to the factory". If it can work, then I'd personally like it to do so.

You, sir, are officially AWESOME!!! Thank you! Thank you all to pieces!.....now to see if this thing will work.....nope. No Dice. i don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the instructions say that at some point I'll be asked to remove the sdhc, and that hasn't happened at all.

Post by PaprikaFaa on Fri Mar 04, 2011 2:12 am

Basically, after oh, roughly 20 tries to either upgrade or reset to factory settings, I'm getting the same issue. The installation stops on the same point every time, and I don't know how to write out the udisk bit or add a udisk. From what I gathered, the udisk is a partition of the MicroSDHC card, and for some reason, it won't install correctly or something, so I've asked for help with unwriting that. If there's anyone out there who can help me with this obnoxiousness, and possibly can manage to keep me from having to take my toy apart (guaranteed to fry it at that point) I'll be eternally thankful, and I might even buy another one. I'm just so frustrated with this, and annoyed that I can't upgrade this fancy ebook reader/brick that I'm ready to toss it, or give it away, or something.

Post by PaprikaFaa on Fri Mar 04, 2011 3:06 am

OK, I broke it. I admit it. I don't speak Chinese and the app market the tablet came with wasn't the google app market, it was some other app market with 12 total apps, 8 of which were in Chinese. Is there some way to avoid having to contact the store I bought it from and ask for tech support from someone who very likely doesn't speak a word of English? I'd like to consider myself a rather tech savvy person, but if this doesn't work, I'll be forced to put Windows 7 on this little box and I'm not entirely sure I want that just yet. I am, however, fed up. Not even HoneyBee worked! so it's off to see the OS wizard, and see if there's a way to find an OS that either doesn't require a udisk, doesn't have a faulty app market, or (maybe I'll get lucky) both. My pet geek doesn't know jack about tablets or Android OS. He can do amazing things with Windows, and PCs/laptops, but this is just a bit more frustrating than I thought it would be. This thing stopped working before I tried to update it, which is another reason I tried to update it. If there is some way to restore it back to factory settings without sending it all the way back to the store I bought it from, I'll accept that. It's reached a status of really pretty touchscreen brick at this point.

Udisk is a partition on the flash ROM not the SD card or the plug usb stick.
after flash udisk becomes the usb stick in the dongle.

ok so I am really confused now... I get the error about Udisk when I try to flash with ANY rom. I saw this post and decided to crack mine open to see if the above USB stick is being used and it appears it is. So what does that mean for flashing my ROM? How to I flash the udisk?

As I said the udisk is a partion on the flash. If yours has a usb stick as flash then it will find udisk & partition accordingly.
The pictures of the internals further up are mine from my tablet. So if your internals are the same then have a look at the 2.1.2 or 2.1.6 HoneyComb ROM. If the Flash is on the cpu board then you are looking at a different firmware.

OK, that is what I was thinking, my problem is that I can not find a ROM that will work on 2.1.2_88. The Honeycomb posted on the 2.1.2_88 post looks to be for _105 and will not get past the "preparing" first step of boot. Tipster offered to build a honeycomb for me if I can get the OEM ROM, but so far have not been able to get that from the Vendor.

Re: Not find Udisk ( dev/sda ) Fail to update filesystem. Exit!

Post by bayman on Thu Mar 10, 2011 1:36 pm

go back a step to 1.9,2.0,2.1_88 the numbers are only important as the build that works with your tablet. I have sucessfully installed 2.1.2 and 2.1.6 builds but they have always been _105.
Having pulled mine apart I have a great knowledge of the internals and can see how most firmwares interact with the hardware. But I'm a long way from being able to pick a ROM just by the pictures & build.

Thanks for your help, but I still can't get any of them to work. Either it hangs on "Preparing package" or no Udisk... I am still trying to get an OEM from vendor but so far no luck. The reseller just says that they can not reveal the vendor and they do not have a ROM. Right now, I have an $80 paper weight.

I have the same problem. All firmware or rom probed...same result: "Not find Udisk".
My epad was 1.6 android Wmt2.1.2_105.
Its posible that someone could do any rom, jumping the step of finding the Udisk? Is that possible?
I have looked for any solution in google...but after reading a lot, no answer for this case.
My epad swithed on and the android robot appears, but it freeze there. Nothing else happends.

If you adjust the script to "jump" the finding Udisk step you will seriously mess up your tablet!!!!!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
If it can't find Udisk then this is NOT the ROM for your tablet - try a different one!

Re: Not find Udisk ( dev/sda ) Fail to update filesystem. Exit!

Post by erich hartmman on Thu Apr 07, 2011 3:01 pm

Hi, people!. My friend has a tablet identical to mine, and when he tried to install Honeycomb V9 (after saw mine Honeycomb running) the following error appears:

***********************
--> Not find Udisk ( dev/sda )
Fail to update filesystem. Exit!
***********************

After that, no one Room we tried appears to works, and we receive the same error all the times. By the way, I performed full format of the SD to FAT32 every time i tried a new room, and probe with another SD, with the same identical error message. Any idea how can i fix this?. Thanks!

The Tablet Spec: CVUK-PC06-2GEN Tablet with WMT2.1.2 105 installed originally. The device LED color when it's turned on is green, vibrate at start up, has a black audio port, 24 pins connector, 256 MB RAM Size, red led charging. It came in a light blue/blue box, saying "MID Tablet PC" on black letters, the same as I saw on another forum regarding tablets, (here is the page where i saw: about-flytouch-mid-green-led-vib-wmt2-1-2-t306.html).

Refer to my answer above and search for CVUK-PC06-2GEN and try the roms in that area.
Just because they look the same externally or have the same build doesn't mean they are actually identical - sorry that's just what we find with the clones. (like mine).
There will be a ROM that will fix your problem.

@thestar : I plugged in a USB disk into the tablet, and the Udisk problem disappeared. You might want to try that.

Plugging in a USB stick will allow the flash to complete but on the USB STICK! If you remove it the tablet won't boot.
Some Tablets (like mine) have an internal USB stick for the flash. They are the ones that these ROMs are for. You bypass the internal flash so the ROM isn't written to it.
The first post is wrong on this topic, the message "perhaps this NAND...not supported " is what I get with the wrong ROM. "Not find UDISK" is the error that tablets without onboard USB get.
You are using the wrong ROM Look at Flytouch 2.0_XX type ROMS.

Flytouch2.0_xx ROMs crash out with PARTITION FAILURE.
2.1.2_105 ROMs crash out with UDisk failure. In desperation, I tried this USB thing which worked.
With a 2.1_88, I was even able to unbrick the tablet (of course that was a 7inch ROM and I have a 8inch tablet, so that sucks, but hey, its better than brick!)

I agree anything is better than a brick, But if people follow your lead, sooner or later they are going to come unstuck.
Nearly all the ROMS here are for the 7 inch tablet which is probably the main problem you are having.
Is your tablet a koby? have a look here http://androidtabletzone.the-talk.net/f187-coby-kyros-tablet-s-3rd-gen they have 8inch screens.
There is also a new forum just for Koby.

The problem with UDisk not found is generated by the fact that some tablets use /dev/sda others use /dev/mtbblocks. This is different from tablet to tablet.

Another ROM which worked for me was:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20066337/105_wmt2.1.2_20110305-blank.7z
Found it on Android tablets

The pictures are of my tablet, they show clearly the USB flash (Udisk) if yours hasn't got that it is unlikely to run any 2.1.2_105 or 2.1.6_105 type ROM.
You need to look at the 2.0..88? or 1.9...88 types.
There are honeycomb versions of both.
