EnGenius ESR-9850 Upgrade - 5dBi SMA ANT

Youtube Hands-on Upgrade Video for Secondary ESR-9850 AP


This has help the main ESR9850 in the FamilyRoom Basement Network Closet by 22% increased in the signal I was at signal 50% now at 70% in my SOHO/HO. Maybe I should have got the 8dBi for Secondary AP? Oh well.. By default EnGenius disables the ECO Power Saving mode. I see if that's active it can turn off the Wireless at anytime. Causes up and down effect or just drop outs.

Results using Cloud-managed wireless sniffing of APNs.
DHCP AP - 72% peak in signal (22% gain)
Secondary AP - 94% peak in signal (4% gain)

I use my ESR9850 with two 4 dbi antennas from WHR-HP-G54 routers (they have now 8 dbi antennas in my grandsons home network) since I got ESR9850.
I hope by using these antennas i could compensate dropped wireless signal with firmware v1.2.

Those are 5dBi from the WHR-HP-G54 I have two of those but only 1 5dBi so you got 10dBi. You need to use 1.09 for the wireless and gain 10% more in signal strength. On tablet PC I see 108% from ESR9850 for signal that's about I think -35dBm scale on the sniffer on Android OS from -100dBm to -40dBm.
