Dealing with Snow

Post by tipstir on Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:23 am

I am consider myself a Green person I don't use Gas products to take care of the yard in the summer. In the winter it's the same. But my Snow Joe shovel blades are broken again. This time can't find the part and the device is so heavy to lift. So okay time to buy a new one right? But I am not going with this brand again. Below is the Toro 38361 Power Shovel 7.5 Amp Electric Snow Thrower

These devices from Toro is not cheap I can tell you that much but they do work. I have the larger one to clear my property.

Always start from the left side of you and the power cord never gets in the way. I have about 200 ft of that because since I am green I mow the lawn with electric also. I alway's get looks, but it works just like a 5HP gas engine without the gas and oil. Uses the same cutting blade, which is cheaper. So late tonight UPS had dropped off the Power Shovel by Toro that cost me $99 but UPS couldn't get here until yesterday. I had Snow Joe but the plastic part that spins up the snow always break plus lifting almost 20 lbs up and down takes it toll.

No never own gas versions. Gas in lawn mowers, I always have to take the carb apart to get clean the gas line.

I had video to show how these work. I never post the Toro one I could. Electric does work gets down deep and it's not heavy. But Toro brand say away from Snow Joe. The wife got me the larger Snow Joe to clear the driveway but that start to fall apart on the first get go. Funny how QVC had them on again. Toro design is better and has power and doesn't suffer from under power. So if you want get the Toro and see for yourself. Even if the snow is higher than the unit it will still move the snow. Gas it expensive and I don't like dealing with oil and gas mixure plus the smoke from the exhaust. What happens if it doesn't start. That's what happens with gas and foul spark plugs. With electric you don't have these issues.

Give us 2-3 inches of snow and us folks in Tennessee shutdown for days. Laughing Actually, we have gotten much better than in years past but then again, the kids have only went to school for 3 days since Dec. 19 due to snow and holidays.

This one help me get a trench for the mailman to get me my mail. It's been two days no mail. I was out there early in the morning not easy to did a trench in deep snow up to your waist. This device dug out the trench pretty quick. Lite also. No assembly required. Open the huge tall box out remove the plastic and tape. Connect it to AC and push in the safety button and grab the trigger and your off. It shoots the snow forward though up in the mist of snow. Still it works! Good for steps, porch and getting to your trash containers which in my case were really covered in deep snow!
