AppsLib Error Message

Post by cdncobyuser on Sat Dec 25, 2010 12:07 pm

Clicked on the AppsLib Icon and up came an error - "Server error; please check your connection". I don't know why this happened. My wifi icon shows as operating - I have been on the tipster site on my Kyros. I have no idea why this happened.

Things with this Kyros are going from bad to worse. Saw Tipsters Applib Application Kyros Fix - but the external sd card is screwed up - so I can't use that as a possible solution.

I think the problem is with AppsLib site itself. I used my computer to log onto AppsLib.com and this is the message:

Just use a replacement market to get apps.

I just went to this page here through the browser
http://androidtabletzone.the-talk.net/t734-market-replacements?highlight=file+manager

I clicked on the pic slideme and it asked if i wanted to install. Perfect if you need a file manager to finish getting apps you already have downloaded working Smile

I've been so infuriated all day by this thinking I had broken my new Archos 43 Internet Tablet and so it's quite comforting that other people are having a problem and it looks like it isn't something I've done! I guess it's just a waiting game now...

Damien: I'm somewhat confused by the site reference above market replacement - clicked on that link, slide me and up came Net Status 1.3 -
Very good network tools collection.
1.Ping any network address.
2.Get the status of all the currently open transport layer sockets on the device.
3.Get the network config spec.
4.Get current arp table.
5.Scan your network domain to find all your network neighbors.

Is this what you're suggesting we download? It's not what I'm needing. There's a second icon SAM -
or if I click on Applications - there are a number of games showing up there. So I tried just downloading checkers - but got an internet explorer message saying it cannot download from slideme.org

You'd mentioned "perfect is you need a file manager" (which is something not currently on my Kyros - but I don't want to bloat this Kyros - since I don't have an sd card that works. I just wanted to see if I could download some kind of game.
And AppsLib web-site is still down. (Probably because it's Christmas day) and no-one is maintaining that site today.

At least try one of the market replacement threads in this section of the forum.
http://androidtabletzone.the-talk.net/f37-market-tools-apps-games-wallpaper

We shouldn't be stuck without apps just because one doesn't want to work for us.
As before open the link through your tablet browser.

I had to redo one of my tablets because I messed up with files. What I've done though is use the browser and point it to this address
https://slideme.org/en/mobileapp/download/6e184aba-e4fd-102d-a194-6ec07c99d928.apk

I saved it and installed it. Then I used the instructions from this link
http://androidtabletzone.the-talk.net/t689-coby-kyros-mid7015-android-tablet-ultimate-beginners-guide-on-how-to-root-your-tablet-install-clockworkmod-recovery-to-do-a-complete-systems-backup-and-then-install-google-market
along with the ApkShare market app to get all the applications I needed in order to get Google Market installed. Took me a bit longer than I thought but now it's been running nice and smoothely for me

Re: AppsLib Error Message

Post by cdncobyuser on Sun Dec 26, 2010 4:04 pm

Well this morning, I checked AppsLib web-site and found it up and running. So turned on my Coby and clicked on AppsLib icon. It just hung on the second square instead of repeatedly going through the five squares and then I got the same server error message and advised to check my connections. I am at a total loss and ready to give up. I've put this unit back into the packing it came with and willl call the Shopping Channel tomorrow and see how long it will take to get a replacement (checking their web-site today I see they are still selling them although at the higher price). I got mine for $180 Cdn - now they are back up to $265, which I wouldn't pay.
My gut instinct is that unless you are android tech savvy, this machine is beyond by abilities. And yet after being on this web-site with all the help that's been provided, and if they can provide me with a new unit at the special pricing, I feel challenged to give it another try. We'll see.

AppsLib is down for everybody. Probably overloaded their server with everyone getting a tablet for Christmas and trying to install apps at the same time. But you're much better of with Android Market, if you're willing to take the time and install it. I would try that before giving up.

Here's two methods:

First Method

Alternate, Newbie Friendly Method

Good luck and hope you don't give up to quick,

Willy

Geez Willy - I checked out "First Method" and "Alternate, Newbie Friendly Method" - ran off both, They seem to make the process much easier to understand. I think I'll see how long it will take to get a replacement Coby from the Shopping Channel and go for it. I've already ordered to new 16gb micro sd card from an Amazon.market dealer yesterday and put it on fast track delivery.

Feel up for the challenge and have already started a new binder on Coby and it's Forums.

Thanks again for everyone's help. Tipster's is the best forum from all the others that I've checked out.

Yeah, it takes a little work to get Market and the Google apps running. I was a little intimidated at first. But it's not so bad, just follow the instructions and hollar if you get stuck!

Are the Methods posted for Android Market for Coby Kyros MID 7015 only. I have Coby Kyros MID 7005. The AppsLib being down does not bother me that much now I know it is not an issue with the Tablet itself. I already have so many apps from Tipster's Power & Megan Tools Collection anyway. What concerns me about the Android Market download is you say do the Coby upgrade first. There was no upgrade for Coby MID 7005. Another thing I never rooted my tablet. I just download Apps. Was I suppose to root the tablet? Maybe I should be happy with the apps I have. Some that I downloaded I don't know how to use them. Laughing
I sure hope I don't have to root. I just learned how to unzip. pale

Yes, these instructions are for the 7015 and I read elsewhere that someone was not able to use them for the 7005. They really are two different machines, manufactured by different companies for Coby.

With the success of tablets embarking AppsLib, the traffic was multiplied by 3 between 24/25 in December and does not stop increasing. A New update will be available very quickly to adjust and correct server's problem.

Well there is a version 2 at appslib.com/downloads which notification was on my Coby when I got it December 23rd, which does not indicate what the update covers. - so if there are still server problems then that's I guess the place to watch for another download.

I've decided this technology is too complicated for me - by Coby developed too many problems and I think you need to be an android developer to operate this machine, so mine went back in the mail today and I am not going to replace it. My gut level feeling was that it was not going to be an enjoyable experience - and for over $200.00 I'd be better served buyng myself a pc netbook.

Watching the news last night, the hottest tech trends for 2011 they say is tablets and we should see many more companies issue units. I'll just watch what emerges in the marketplace over the next year or so.

Sorry to hear that, but I understand your frustration. Don't know where you paid over $200! Wow! I've seen it online at more than one place for $149. But I do agree that in 2011 we should see more options and better devices.

Good luck and hope you come back here when you get a new tablet,

I'm from Canada, so it was bought from the Canadian Shopping Channel who had them on special the week before Christmas for $179.99 plus tax @ 13% brought the total to $200. They are back at the usual price of $265.00 Canadian plus tax.

Wow. I just checked xe.com and saw that the exchange rate for Canadian to American dollars is just about 1 to 1. So $265 is just crazy! I guess the $149 Black Friday and Christmas specials are over, but Amazon still has the 7015 for $169 and Free Shipping (as does Adorama Camera) in case you know anyone else who is looking.
